Wildcrafted hawthorn berries, gathered in the belly of the Autumn; Douglas fir gathered from storm-downed branches; redwood needles, gathered from the Sequoia trees that reach this far south; wild turkey tail mushrooms from the deep, dark forest; with pu-erh tea and bright blue cornflowers. This tasty and beautiful tea is evocative of a deep forest: slightly woodsy, slightly sweet. The Douglas fir and redwood needles give it a citrusy brightness, the hawthorn berries add sweetness. The turkey tail mushrooms give it a hint of earthy forest floor, and the puerh pulls it all together with its slightly smoky earthy flavour.
This tea was inspired by Briar Winters' gorgeous Forest Tea blend. I was so inspired that I wanted to make a version of my own. It started out as a surprise box treat, but I loved it so much that I had to keep making it!
